About Christopher

I've been building websites since I was 9 years old, when I created a pen-pal matchmaking service on GeoCities. I loved the feeling of building things and putting them into the world, and it's a feeling I still get today.
I'm a Senior Software Engineer at OCAD University in Toronto, where I specialize in learning management systems and educational technology, empowering educators and enhancing the student experience. My focus has been full-stack application development, system architecture, platform engineering, as well as training and mentoring.
I come to software engineering from an unconventional background: with a BFA in New Media from Toronto Metropolitan University, I blend technical expertise with a designer's eye for UX. I bring this perspective to all my work, whether freelancing, doing open source work, or teaching web development to hundreds of students over nearly a decade.
My technical toolkit includes deep experience with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, operations and web accessibility. I'm an open-source contributor and conference presenter.
I'm learning to play drums, planning canoe trips, and I’m usually up for a board game.
I'm open to collaboration on interesting projects and new opportunities. If you're working on something in educational technology, open source, or just want to chat about web development, let's connect
